Essential tips to keep your blooms beautiful
Fresh flowers have an undeniable power to brighten a room and lift our spirits. But how do you make those gorgeous blooms last as long as possible? With a few simple tricks, you can enjoy that floral beauty for much longer.
-
A clean start
Vase hygiene
Bacteria is the enemy of cut flowers! Wash your vase thoroughly with hot, soapy water before adding you fresh blooms.
Stem prep
Trim an inch or two off the stems at a 45-degree angle. This helps increase surface area so your flowers can get a good glug.
Happy hydration
Water works
Use lukewarm water, and fill your vase about two-thirds full.
Top it up
Check the water level daily, thirsty flowers will drink more than you expect!
Prune and refresh
Every few days, give those stems a fresh trim, remove any wilting blooms, and change out the water completely.
Location, location, location
Keep it cool
Heat makes flowers wilt faster. Find a cool spot away from direct sunlight and drafts.
An invisible enemy
Ripening fruit releases a natural, odourless gas called ethylene, which acts as a super-fast ageing potion for flowers. Bananas, apples and pears are especially potent! Flowers that are past their best can also have the same effect.

There are a few ways to keep eucalyptus in your home. We recommend using it as a beautiful, organic display in a vase or adding a spa vibe to your shower.
If you’re displaying eucalyptus in water, it’s less fussy than flowers but we recommend following our bloom care tips.
When adding it to the shower - simply tie it up with some string in your shower cubicle and breathe in the scent of fresh eucalyptus every time your bathroom gets steamy. It will last for months and once it’s dried out, you can display it as a forever bunch or compost and start again!

Start with a clean door and before displaying, give it a good shake to remove any loose needles or debris.
Mist your wreath every couple of days with fresh water to help keep it hydrated.
If you're not displaying the wreath immediately, store it in a cool, dark place until you're ready to use it.
The best way to secure your wreath securely is by using a wreath hook. There are lots on the market that can be attached in different ways but will ensure your decoration stays safe and sound!
